Overhand Throw and Catching
The last week or so we have been working on our overhand throw technique and this week we will be working on catching. The main points for the Overhand Throw are:
* turn opposite (non throwing) shoulder towards target
* make a "T" with your arms
* step with your foot closest to the target
* twist your tummy and throw
* tap your opposite knee on the follow through
The video I found on YouTube explains it pretty well.

For catching, if the ball is below the waist it is pinkie fingertips touching, fingers spread, eyes on the ball. When the ball is above the waist, it is thumb tips touching, fingers spread, eyes on the ball. They should always try to catch the ball with their hands, not their body.
Also this week we are doing our Walk-A-Thon. We are walking from the school to the Rail Trail in our 45 minute time. We are walking about a mile total.

Rules, rules, rules!
Hi there, just wanted to run down the class rules for everyone in PE. The be safe, respectful and responsible are school wide rules.
Be Safe - Hands and feet to yourself, do not leave the gym without my permission, wear tennis shoes and keep them tied, and freeze with your hands on your knees when you hear the whistle.
Be Respectful - No name calling, bullying, or rumors. Be respectful of other people's property, including school equipment. Sit quietly with your eyes and ears on the speaker.
Be Responsible - You are in charge of you. Clean up after yourself at school and at home. You are in charge of getting your homework done and back to school on time.
Be Active - get 60 minutes a day of physical activity such as riding a bike, swimming, walking the dog, soccer, etc. The activity is good for you heart, muscles, bones and brain!
Be Healthy - Eat two servings of fruits and vegetables every day. A serving is about the size of your fist. Drink plenty of water every day. Get 10 hours of sleep a night, it's when your body grows and your brain does what it needs to.
